Photographic Underwater Exhibition @La Ventana Azul Hostel
Life is still beautiful! Starting from the 15th of March 2021 the very talented Canarian photographer Kay Machin Benítez from KayWaterBlue.com will start an exposition in our hostel at Las Canteras Beach. The world needs some colour and natural beauty and thats what we want to give to our guests and visitors right now!

Las Canteras beach is the main urban beach in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is one of the most important beaches in the Canary Islands.

Frequented throughout the year, it is the beach preferred by most of the city’s inhabitants and foreigners who visit it, who can enjoy it at any time of the year thanks to the mild climate.

Las Canteras stretches on the west side of the Isthmus of Guanarteme, once a language of dunes and sands that linked the mountains of the La Isleta peninsula, located to the northeast, with the rest of the island of Gran Canaria.

The beach is the longest of the existing ones in the city. It is oriented to the northwest, in what is known as the Confital arch or bay, and extends from the foothills of La Isleta to just before the mouth of the Tamaraceite ravine, for just over three long kilometers of fine, golden sand.

For much of this length, the beach is sheltered from currents from the Atlantic by a natural sandstone and reef bar, which is popularly known as “the bar” and can be reached by swimming from the shore.

Las Canteras beach has a great wealth in its waters with a large amount of aquatic flora and fauna, it is an ideal beach for practicing water sports, including snorkeling, being enough with a pair of glasses and a tube to enjoy its rich bottoms. in color and life.

In this exhibition you will be able to see a set of images obtained all as a whole on the beach of the quarries, all of them made in apnea at depths not exceeding 3 meters.

This exhibition seeks to encourage you to dive in its waters and enjoy its privileged and unique environment but always respecting all its inhabitants, I hope you enjoy!
